Get to Know These Blue Eyes
(and More )
I am joining in the Teacher Week fun! You can look forward to hearing from me all week! 😉 Thanks to all the fun ladies at Blog Hoppin’ for hosting this rockin’ party because I know in a week when I have little Firsties arrive in my classroom I certainly will not have time to post everyday! Whew! Seriously I am tired just thinking about it.
Let me introduce myself…
From Sorels to Sandals
That has been our Blue Eyed families motto for the past 6 months. About two weeks ago we said, “Goodbye” to our Sorels (and cold toes, Brrr) and said, “Hello!” to the sand. We were led to make a major move in our life which took us down to the beautiful, Florida Panhandle. It has been about 2 weeks and we were loving life in our sandals.
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1
Our family really leaned not on our own understanding but our faith. It has been an adventure so far and I looked forward to seeing what else the Lord has planned for us.
Always a Cheesehead
Even though we did trade in our Sorels for Sandals we did not trade in our cheeseheads! Growing up in Wisconsin I think green and gold runs in your blood. We sure do love our Packers which leads to a love of beer, brats, and cheese. They really all go hand in hand. You can not have one without the others and it is even better if you put them all together! Aaron Rodgers (swoon) should run for president! Oh, and the Brewers are also another national treasure in our Blue Eyes!
Seltzer water is a serious addiction in our household. We need to take stock because we are purchasing so much! So refreshing, delicious and calorie free (super bonus). In this hot, humid Florida weather hydration is a must.
Mr. Blue Eyes and I did really jump into a lake to get the perfect wedding invitation (and no that was not my real wedding dress). You can read more about our session here. I absolutely love the fact the Mr. Blue Eyes pants are way too short!
Wild About Weimaraners
Another family obsession…Our sweet baby blue. Any and all things Weimaraner related we love! We especially love collecting original Weim artwork (I know weird). Have you ever seen the movie, Best In Show? Yes, we are very similar to the couple with the Weimaraner, not joking and our love is certainly not normal!
I love being a teacher and I love, love, love teaching first grade. There is nothing like teaching a little one how to read and help them realize that they are all authors and have amazing stories to tell. Seriously best job ever! With a new year fast approaching I am getting my first day jitters. Meeting the Firsties that I will spend 8 hours a day with for the next 9 months is beyond exciting!
Music… I love music! I love going on iTunes to discover new artists and songs that I can rock out to in the car and shower (who am I kidding). Growing up with two very musical parents and in a musical family I learned to love and appreciate music. My mom is an elementary music teacher, my dad was a high school choir teacher and church choir director (in his younger years, sorry dad ) and my grandpa was also a music teacher (I guess you could say teaching is in my blood). Actually, my entire family is pretty musically inclined. At all of our family functions there is some musical production or sing along, isn’t everyone’s family like that? Just teasing, I know it is very special. This leads me to my latest musical obsession, which happens to be one of my relatives, my extremely talented cuzzy, Griffin Peterson! I wrote an earlier post about him here. He is an unbelievably talented songwriter and singer. Please check out his website here, you will not be disappointed (read the blog he has amazing stories from his life in Nashville)! Oh, did I mention you can purchase his first two singles on iTunes and Amazon! They are amazing and I know they will be on repeat as soon as you buy them! Mr. Blue Eyes and I used his song, Getaway, as our drive to Florida theme song!
Mr. Blue Eyes
I am married to the school stud! Hehe he will be so embarrassed that I wrote that. In high school Mr. Blue Eyes was the senior quarterback and I was a dorky freshman. He did not even know my name even though I was friends with his sister and cousin! Looking back I believe that God needed us both to experience life on our own before we were ready to be together. We started spending time together about 8 years later and sparks flew (isn’t it weird how that happens). We have been together ever since! Love that man (and his blue eyes) ;).
I grew up on a lake and love to swim, and take part in all lake activities. I especially love water skiing! I don’t do it as much as I used to but every time I get out on the water I remember why I love it!
In my older age I am learning to love (well, appreciate) my curly hair. Growing up I always wanted what I couldn’t have, straight hair. Now that I am older and more mature I realize that it it special and makes me unique.
If I was not a teacher I would definitely be a cleaning lady! I love to clean. I love the feeling of accomplishment. Toilets, mirrors, carpets, I love it all!
I hope these little tidbits helped you get to know me and my adorable family a little better. I have loved getting to know all the other teacher bloggers out there and can’t wait to see all those cute classrooms tomorrow!
Enjoy your evening! I plan on reading more blogs!
