It’s a Very Burlap Christmas, Part 2

It’s A Very Burlap Christmas, Part 2

Errr…Well, New Year?!

I know, I know it’s already January 2014 but things got crazy in December for this Blue Eyed Family.  So hopefully you can check out this post and use it for Christmas this year {I am giving you ample time to complete this craft} :).

Burlap Christmas Decorations

Our Christmas was full of burlap this year (you can read more about my obsession Here and Here).  It started when my mom and dad visited over Thanksgiving and brought us the most adorable burlap tree skirt and stockings.  Unfortunately, I forgot to snap a picture of our sad, little Christmas tree with the skirt (we had no ornaments because we left them all in Wisconsin 🙁 ) before I took it down.  But the stockings ended up on our gray hutch which I loved!

Our sweet stockings…

Like I said our family got crazy busy in December and we actually just arrived back home {ahem, at 3am} from a 2 week trip to the sub-arctic temperatures in Wisconsin.  It was so special to spend so much time with our families but Mr. Blue Eyes, Baby Blue, and I are happy to be back and thaw out.

Burlap Place Mats

Before we left for our trip I created a few little place mats with the extra burlap from our bedskirt (Here).  I simply cut the place mats to the size I wanted by using a place mat I already had as a template.  Then I frayed the top, bottom and sides to make the mats look more polished.  When I was done cutting the mats I ironed them to make the burlap easier to work with.

Then with one of my favorite crafting tools, the Sharpie I stenciled on some of my favorite holiday phrases.  I purchased the stencil at Hobby Lobby.  I chose a stencil that was a bit modern. You could really choose any type of stencil you fancy…Or if you are really brave you could freehand your phrases! You can also pick any sharpie color or paint that matches your Christmas decor.  We have a pretty neutral Christmas decorations so I decided to keep my mats simple with black.

Very cute, love them! Hard to take down cute decorations like that! I’d leave the place mats out year round, just flip em over! 🙂
