Navy and Fuschia Summer Bridal Shower

Summer Bridal Shower

Mr. Blue Eyes and I both have huge families so there is always someone graduating, having a baby, getting married, etc.  Last summer I hosted a bridal shower for Mr. Blue Eyes sweet sister, Kahlie.

I was hosting the event at my parents home since Mr. Blue Eyes and I were living in an apartment.  To get ideas I started at the most obvious place… Pinterest! Pinterest is my go-to website when I am having a party.  As I was searching there were some really adorable ideas and tried a couple of them with my own little spin.

We were planning to have the shower outside because my parents have a beautiful patio overlooking the lake.  However, in Wisconsin when planning outdoor events you ALWAYS need to have a plan B.  We were ready with our plan B and oh boy did we have to use it! No joke 20 minutes before the shower a major rain and wind storm started! My crew and I did some quick switches and fixes and it all worked out.  The shower guests and I even got to take a sun soaked boat ride at the end of the shower! Like I said Wisconsin weather can change at the drop of a hat! 🙂

The color scheme for the wedding was navy and fuschia which is why I wanted to stick with those colors for the bridal shower.  My sister in-law is seriously one classy chick and I wanted the shower to represent that as much as possible.  The decorations were kept pretty simple with a few pops! The tables were covered in white linens with burlap runners on top.  Then I used the some mason jars with tea lights (left from my wedding) to provide us with a bit o’ atmosphere.

I also went to the Michaels (LOVE) and got some fun craft paper and cut my own pennants to make a banner.  To string the pennants together I used a sturdy burlap rope that I also found at Michaels.  The pennant banners were hung on the champagne bar and other tables.  They were a seriously cheap decoration but everyone loved them.  My sweet sister in-law loved them so much that she kept them and she used them on their wedding car! Then to top off the decorations one of Mr. Blue Eyes aunties put together gorgeous vases of fresh cut flowers, which I think are the ultimate decoration! 🙂

Bridal Shower Food

That is a very daunting title.  I am by no means a cook or baker but I knew I wanted to try some whimsical treats because Kahlie (the blushing bride) is a serious foodie.  I mean this girl can cook! So of course when you don’t know where to begin on almost anything you head to Pinterest.  On Pinterest I found an adorable link which had the neatest party menu. Check it out here.  I took the menu and made it my own.  We served mini-pancakes.  I found the mini-pancake shape at World Market for $4!  I also went to Michael’s and picked up some wooden spools and discs to create the mini pancake stands.  I spray painted them navy blue to go with the showers color scheme.

Along with the mini pancakes we also served mini (are you sensing a theme 🙂 ) yogurt parfaits.  The parfaits included vanilla yogurt, mixed berries, and a delicious vanilla granola from our local grocery store.  To hold the parfaits I used Dollar Tree Coupes.  They are totally reasonable {hello, $1} and we didn’t have to wash them! For a sweet little treat I stuffed strawberries with cream cheese.  Oh my yummy! There were some other various quiches and a french toast casserole.

Like at all parties the food is only one portion.  We also had a super fun champagne bar.  At Goodwill I found some gorgeous candy dishes that we filled with various candies and fruit.  The candy and fruit was used by the party guests to drop into their glass of champagne.

We had a variety of juices, candy and champagne for our guests to choose from.

I loved throwing this shower and I learned a lot about what I want to do again and maybe skip next time! 🙂 Live and Learn 🙂
