Newborn Must Haves

Blue Eyed Favorites: New Mom Edition

As a new mom I am quickly learning the products and items that are must haves for Baby Blue Eyes and us. We were showered with love and gifts before Baby Blue Eyes arrived so we really didn’t need much.  These are a few of must haves if you are expecting.

1. Fisher Price Swing:Mr. Blue Eyes and I really didn’t think we were going to use this at all.  We received ours as a hand me down from my sister {My sister had already used hers with her 3 kids and it worked perfectly for us…it’s a good investment}.  When my sister came to visit after Baby Blue Eyes arrived she set it up and forced us to use it.  Because Baby Blue Eyes was such a peanut the swing went so fast, even on the lowest setting {Mr. Blue Eyes was panicked that the baby was going to get shaken baby syndrome, everyone around us swore he would be safe}.  We learned real fast those first couple nights that the swing was going to save us! Baby Blue Eyes loves to move! I think it might have something to do with the fact that I did Zumba through my ninth month of pregnancy.  Our swing is not fancy by any means but seriously it is amazing.  There were many nights when sweet Baby Blue Eyes would not go back to sleep at 3 am.  The swing saved us on those sleepless nights and also just when we wanted to eat dinner or clean the toilets! 🙂

2. Honest Diaper Bundle Subscription (Well actually our Honest subscription in general): I researched a lot of diapers and diaper subscriptions before having Baby Blue Eyes.  The Honest diapers were the by far the cutest but I didn’t want to make my decision based on something so superficial! 🙂 The Honest Diaper subscription provides you with 4 packs of wipes and 6 packs of diapers for $80.00! Plus, the diapers, wipes and everything from Honest are all organic and natural.  The other subscriptions I looked up didn’t include wipes and you would have to order double to receive the same amount of diapers.  It is seriously a great deal and it doesn’t hurt that they super cute! I have tried other diapers and Baby Blue Eyes has such sensitive skin that he gets red and reacts, especially with generic brands.  The Honest diapers help keep his little cheeks soft and comfortable! 🙂 I am also obsessed with our Essential Honest bundle subscription.  Those first few months of motherhood are such a blur and I could barely see straight much less think about shopping.  That is why the subscription for both the diapers and the rest of the Honest products was essential {especially the diaper cream}.  They came to my doorstep and I knew they would be good for my whole family including our newest member.  😉 I know Target carries Honest products and that is a great place to pick up some of the products to try but if you love them as much as I do you need to get the subscription because it saves you a lot of money in the long run.  The company is also amazing and offers subscribers free products throughout the year (I have already received a tote bag, a teether, and a batch of organic cookie mix and cookie cutter and I have only been a member 6-months).  Here is a quick link to get you there!

3. Aden and Anais Swaddles: This has got to be on every first time mothers must have list.  They are the softest and snuggliest {I know not a word} blankets ever! I think I have 7 and would love like 2 more packs! Baby Blue Eyes was born on one of the hottest days we had here in Florida this past summer and these blankets were the perfect weight and protection for his sweet, soft skin through those hot summer months.  My cousin even told me to wear them as a scarf and your little baby who was swaddled in them will snuggle into you every time you wear it!

4. Bob Motion Travel System: Like I said Baby Blue Eyes likes to move.  This stroller was perfect and always puts him right to sleep! It moves so smoothly and everyone who sees it thinks it was super expensive and fancy {it wasn’t;) } This set is a travel system which means that the car seat and base come with the stroller purchase.  Mr. Blue Eyes and I ended up ordering another base so that we could each have one in our car.

5. Burp Cloths: This one might only help a percentage of you expecting mothers and you won’t know until your little babe starts to eat but Baby Blue Eyes is a spitter.  He throws up all the time, after just about every meal.  It has become so expected that I warn everyone who hold him after he eats.  There have been a few too many times that he has ruined someone’s cute outfit! The burp cloths we use are from Target and Marshalls….they are actually receiving blankets but the throwing up occurs so much that I needed something bigger than the regular burp cloths.

6. Soothie Pacifier: The Soothies like the Aden and Anais swaddles are probably on every mothers must have list.  I don’t know why but they just work and can soothe most little ones.  Also, when you look in the finger hole when your babe is sucking they look like a stingray {so cute}!

7. One-Piece Outfits: I am learning to love layering clothes. like sweaters and button ups on Baby Blue Eyes but like I said he was born in the heat of the summer down here.  We didn’t spend much time outside but when I did I found that one-piece outfits look way more put together than onesies with pants {not my favorite baby look, but obviously still adorable :)}.  In fact Baby Blue Eyes still lives in one-piece outfits! The Gap has seriously the cutest one pieces ever! I MAY {;)} be placing an order today! Mr. Blue Eyes is still getting the hang of changing one-piece outfits.  If it were up to him Baby Blue Eyes would only be allowed to wear zip up and button up pajamas! Enter exhibit A…The Gap one-piece…I won’t even go there… 😉

8. Solly Baby Wrap: I used this all the time.  Living at the beach this is perfect because I am able to strap Baby Blue Eyes on me and then have my hands free for other things like chairs and bags! It is also perfect for traveling!

There are a few of my must haves for newborns.  However a lot of those items are still on my must have list!
